Today we went to Shands Hospital at the University of Florida for a follow up visit with Dr. Cabrera, Tommy's Liver Specialist. Unfortunately, he did not have any good news to share with us. In the past six weeks, four new tumors have grown on Tommy's liver and he is no longer eligible for a transplant. His first option is to begin a new trial in the next two weeks, and if this treatment is a success it will stop the existing tumors from growing any larger and could buy him some time. The doctor will not know the stage of Tommy's cancer or his life expectancy until the blood results are back within the next week. To say that we are in shock is an understatement. We are devastated... Absolutely devastated. Please keep Tommy and our family in your prayers. The kids and I are doing our best to stay positive for Tommy, but it's hard on all of us. Thank you so much for all your prayers, donations, and words of encouragement. We will update everyone as we know more.
